Macsteel Service Centers USA Expands With New Facility in Portland, Oregon

Portland, OR - December 2, 2008 - Macsteel Service Centers USA (www.macsteelusa.com) recently expanded its business operations with the opening of a new 100,000-square-foot service center in Portland, Oregon. A formal plant opening and ribbon-cutting event is planned for the spring of 2009.

The Portland plant will service the Pacific Northwest region including Oregon, Washington and Idaho. The service center will process and stock carbon, stainless and aluminum flat rolled and wide flange beams. Future plans call for the product line to include channels, angles, tubes and plates.

 Macsteel Service Centers USA Opens New Tucson Facility

Newport Beach, CA, May 17, 2007--- Macsteel Service Centers USA announced today the opening of its new $10 million metals processing and distribution service center in Tucson, Arizona. The company held a western-themed open house celebration on Thursday, May 17, 2007 for employees, customers, suppliers and local government officials to mark the start up of the new facility in Tucson's Century Park research Center.

Macsteel Service Centers USA's employees and plant officials greeted guests and took them on tours of the 73,400-square foot Greenfield facility which features technologically advanced metals processing equipment. The facility processes and distributes carbon and non-ferrous metals for customers throughout the Southwest U.S and Mexico.

The 'Man of Steel' Eric Samson

Eric Samson showed signs he would make a great businessman while still at school. After a cake sale at Parkview Junior , the principal announced that Samson had raised the largest amount of money ever from selling biscuits and sweets - £19, 9s, 6d.

That was nearly 60 years ago. Since then the Macsteel Holdings co-chairman has applied his entrepreneurial skills to building a formidable empire in steel manufacturing and trading, and shipping, with a global footprint. He now presides over the biggest unlisted company in SA - bigger by sales even than De Beers.

Macsteel Service Centers USA Announces Expansion to Tucson

Macsteel Service Centers USA, Inc., owned by the global steel company, Macsteel Holdings of South Africa announced plans today for the construction of a new $10 million metals manufacturing and distribution facility in Tucson, Arizona. Macsteel Service Centers USA plans to hire 25 employees within the next few years, with possible expansion in the future.

The new 73,400 square-foot facility is scheduled to open in late 2006 and will be located on 8 acres. The state-of-the-art facility will process and distribute a full array of steel and non-ferrous products to customers in the Southwest U.S and Mexico. The operations will include a significant capital investment in the most technologically advanced metals processing equipment.

Macsteel Service Centers USA expands capabilities in Midwest -
Acquires Alpha Processing, Inc.

Newport Beach, CA, October 4, 2005 -Macsteel Service Centers USA, Inc., announced today that it is expanding its heavy gauge steel processing capabilities by acquiring the business and assets of Alpha Processing, Inc. (API), located in Chicago, Illinois. Terms of the purchase were not disclosed.

Alpha Processing, Inc. is owned by Paul H. Athens and a group of investors. In April, Macsteel Service Centers USA had acquired Alpha Steel, a large distributor of hot rolled plate and structural steel products. The Alpha Processing acquisition adds heavy gauge cut-to-length processing and shot blasting to Macsteel Service Centers' expanding portfolio of products and services in the Midwest.

Acquires Hokin-Katz

Newport Beach, CA, February 2, 2004 -Macsteel Service Centers USA Inc., announced today that it has acquired the business and assets of Hokin-Katz, a privately owned metals service center located in Los Angeles, California. Terms of the purchase were not disclosed.

Hokin-Katz will operate under its existing name as a Macsteel Service Centers USA facility. Their management will continue with the Company in their present roles. The current flat rolled business of Macsteel Service Centers USA, Western Division will be relocated to the Hokin-Katz operations.

Hokin-Katz specializes in close tolerance slitting and precision blanking of high quality products including thin gauges and surface critical coated and non-coated steel products, supplying high end focused niche markets. In addition, they distribute the broadest variety of products to be found on the West Coast.

Acquires Regal Steel Supply

CHICAGO, IL, March 3, 2003 -Macsteel Service Centers USA Inc., announced today that it has acquired the business and assets of Regal Steel Supply, headquartered in Stockton, California. Terms of the purchase were not disclosed.

As a result of the acquisition, Regal Steel will operate as a Macsteel Service Centers USA division, under its existing name. Current Regal management will continue to operate the facility.

Regal Steel Supply is currently owned jointly by the Corus Group and Birch Lakes Investments, and is a Long Products service center. The company operates facilities in Stockton and Fontana, California and maintains an extensive inventory of beams and other structural products supplying building and construction industries.

Acquires Baldwin Steel Company

CHICAGO, IL, September 30, 2002 -Macsteel Service Centers USA Inc., announced today that it has acquired substantially all of the business and assets of Baldwin Steel Company, headquartered in Laurence Harbor, New Jersey. Terms of the purchase were not disclosed.

As a result of the acquisition, Baldwin Steel Company will operate as a Macsteel Service Centers USA region, under its existing name. Current Baldwin management will continue to operate the facilities.

Baldwin Steel Company is owned by the privately held Duferco Group, and is full-line metals processor and service center. The company has served the U.S. industry for more than 40 years and operates facilities in Tulsa, Oklahoma; Houston, Texas; Memphis, Tennessee and Chicago, Illinois. Baldwin Steel maintains an extensive inventory of value added and coated products supplying most industries. Their processes include light gauge slitting, multi-cut blanking and processing of prepainted and coated products. They also operate numerous roll-forming machines.

Macsteel Service Centers USA Acquires Certain Assets of
the Jersey City, NJ Division of Baldwin Steel Company

CHICAGO, IL, June 3, 2002 -Macsteel Service Centers USA Inc., through its wholly owned subsidiary Edgcomb Metals Company, announced today that it has acquired certain assets of the Jersey City, New Jersey Division of Baldwin Steel Company. The assets will be incorporated into the Company's Eastern Region.

Baldwin Steel Company, headquartered in Laurence Harbor, NJ is a subsidiary of Duferco Steel Inc. Baldwin Steel Company has four other steel service center plants throughout the U.S. that will not be affected by this transaction. The Jersey City Division has been in business for over 40 years and has been a leading distributor and processor of flat rolled steel servicing the Northeast U.S. markets.

The Baldwin Steel Jersey City assets and customer base will be combined with Macsteel USA's wholly owned subsidiary Edgcomb Metals' state-of-the-art facilities in Philadelphia, PA; Nashua, New Hampshire; York, PA and Charlottesville, VA. Edgcomb has operated in the New England region of the U.S. for 50 years and in the Philadelphia area for over 75 years, and is managed by John Prouty, the Eastern Region's President.
