Macsteel Service Centers USA supported project with
donation of metal roofing system
Last season’s premiere of the hit television show Extreme Makeover:
Home Edition, which aired on Sunday, September 30, 2007 on ABC, featured metal roofing materials manufactured
at Macsteel Service Centers USA's Honolulu, Hawaii plant. The project featured a 3,500 square feet new residence for the Akana family and a 4,500 square feet community center used for a non-profit educational program for Hawaiian children run by Mrs. Akana.
For the main house, Macsteel Service Centers USA's Honolulu,
Hawaii plant donated MAC 175, an interlocking, concealed clip, structural
standing seam metal roof system in 24 gauge Mauna Kea White.
The plant manufactures a wide variety of metal roofing including
exposed fastener and standing seam systems. The MAC 175 standing seam is
produced on a portable rollformers which can be rolled in house, or at a
jobsite , ideal for long panel applications.
Macsteel Service Centers USA employees who worked on the Extreme
Makeover: Home Edition agree that it was an incredible and rewarding
opportunity to give back to the community and are proud of the company's
contribution and involvement in the project.
The Hawaii market has long appreciated the benefits of using
metal roofing because it is strong, lightweight, and offers great life cycle
cost benefits.
All Macsteel Service Centers USA roofing panels have an industry
leading AZ55 thick coating of Galvalume, providing unmatched corrosion
protection, and its prepainted panels products are coated on the exterior with
ULTRA-Cool®. ULTRA-Cool's 1.0 mil Kynar 500® paint system uses infrared
reflective pigments that direct heat away from the roof, lowering the roof's
temperature, keeping interior space cooler and reducing energy costs.
The Honolulu plant also sells one of the largest selection of bar
and structural steel products in Hawaii, as well as operates a Hot-Dip
Galvanizing plant.
Macsteel Service Centers USA operates a plant in Tulsa, Oklahoma that sells metal roofing panels and coils used in the manufacture of standing seam and screw down panels. The plant supplies AZ55 Galvalume® and painted coils of colors to match, in 30 gauge to 20 gauge.
